Merry Christmas Eve

Wow, it has been almost 6 months since I wrote.  My life has become much more routine now so hopefully I will be able to blog more.  Since I last blogged I started my job, almost died, and moved.  Wow!

My job:
I like working at Zones way more than I would have guessed.  I work from 6am to 3pm selling IT equipment, mainly to Indiana.  On Thursday I got my 20th account!  I have made good friends with some of my clients and have been doing pretty well.  At Zones when you get 20 accounts and finish your 6 month certifications you move up in the Account Executive progression and I am the first person in my class to earn that! So essentially I got a promotion, I am not necessarily getting more money, however, I get to work with bigger accounts so the idea is that I will make more commission.  I am really excited to start cleaning out my book of the old small leads.  I really like the company and I really like the people I work with, it is just the cold calling all day that is not much fun.  Now on to my near death experience.

Car Accident:
When driving to work September 14th I was switching lanes from a lane that was old to a lane that was repaved that weekend.  My car started to lose control and I was trying to slow down and regain control and it just got worse and I ended up upside down facing the wrong direction.  Below is the picture the news showed of my car while saying I was in critical condition.  Just in case you were wondering I got out of the car walked and only had a scratch and was really stiff later.  But I got lucky and was not badly injured/didn't die even though looking at my car and the fact that everything in my car ended up outside, one would think I died.

Moving:
Mark decided he wasn't happy in Portland anymore and I always wanted to move to Seattle so we just recently moved at the end of October.  Right now we are living with Mark's family which is nice to not pay rent for awhile.  Mark's dad is currently in Hong Kong til March fortunately, we did get home to see him for a few days before he left.  We are both happy here right now.  I was able to transfer my job to the Auburn location so I still work 6-3 but I have a different schedule with how my day goes and I like it better.  The Auburn office is the corporate headquarters so it has more opportunities so that is also good.

And so ends my life updates and now I will keep you all updated more often.  So there's life for now,

Graduation and post college life

Well here I am over a month out of college.  Life has been a slow whirlwind. What I mean by that is it has been a little crazy but at the same time I have spent many days doing nothing.  Mark started work at the beginning of July and so I haven't had much to do Monday thru Friday except look for jobs.  Weekends we have done some fun stuff like going to the river but our main hanging out has been cooking and eating dinner.  But now my life is coming together.  I got a job starting August 1st at the same place Mark is working.  I also found a place to live around the corner from Mark so now we will be able to carpool!  I am going to be an Account Executive at Zones which is an IT sales firm.  I'm really excited to start.  The job has a very good base pay and commission scale.  It is a great experience and I will never give up on my dream but I can't wait to see where this job goes.  The place I am going to move in is with a 40 something year old woman who was recently divorced.  I got a room a bathroom, shared areas and then Mark around the corner.  All in all things seem to be looking up.  Below are some pictures of graduation although once i move into my new place and get my camera cord I have a few on my camera.

Done with School

Well here I am, my last final was Monday and it took me a half an hour and now I am just waiting around until Graduation.  Although I don't know if this should really be called "just waiting" I am pretty stressed currently about my future.  Mark just got a job in Portland and so now it is up to me to find one there also. which is a pretty small search radius. I have been working hard I just really don't want to settle for something that anyone can do, I want to love my job.  I am having a hard time right now because I feel like such a failure with no job.  Hopefully i will find one soon, I am on overdrive now that it is for sure Portland.  This also means apartment shopping asap... ahh the stress of being done with college.. and here I thought there would be less stress, wishful thinking.

well right now I can't focus on anything but please people hire me!!

Spring Term Week 7

Here I am Saturday of Week 7 which means Week 8 is about to start!  Week 8 is "Senior Week" for Pi Phi and I'm really excited for all the activities.  It's crazy that I am going to graduate in less than a month!  I still need to figure out a job, I'm working on it but many companies have said to get in touch when I am closer to being able to start.  I'm getting somewhat stressed about the future but I know that everything will work out.  I'm excited to see what happens next in my life, as I write my grad party invitations and watch the Timbers and Sounders play.  I have 9 total classes left to attend this term, 1 more baseball game to work, and a lot of fun to be had with senior week and a trip to Shasta!  I'm really excited because there is a pretty good chance that a group of my friends are now also coming to Shasta which will make it even more fun.

My senioritis is getting a little crazy in my motivation switching from school to finding a job and hanging out with friends that I will soon be farther away from.  Fortunately with only having two classes to maintain grades in I have managed to do VERY well, and am actually ahead in one class.  It has been very nice to get papers and midterms back and see some high scores including a 99% on one midterm and a 97.5% on the other.  Anyways I gotta go but hopefully soon I'll have some good news such as a job?!

my last spring break...

is almost over.  It has been very productive though (not that everyone wants that in a spring break, I am happy though).  I got some very good pieces for professional outfits, and I am very happy with what I got.  I also met with some contacts in different organizations.  Although I am finding that no sports teams are hiring because of lockouts, etc.  I have gained some very insightful information and I really appreciate the fact that so many people are willing to help me out!  I also had a job interview with Insight Global, we'll see what happens with that soon, but even if I don't get asked for a second interview the experience is great.  The more interviews I do the more likely I am to find a job.  I really wish that I could already have a job so I could figure out housing but I will be ecstatic if I can just graduate with a job.  I really hope that everything I am doing pays off, everybody says that I am doing a good job and that I make a good impression especially with my book.  I am glad that my book is very impressive because with this job market you need everything and anything to set you apart.

I'm glad that there is so much basketball right now because I feel like I have been watching so much TV in my spare time.  Although as  I'm sure you could guess, I am also on the computer, but I have been trying to be productive and look for other job opportunities.  I am really trying to do everything I can.  Anyways basketball, I really hope Arizona does well I am about to watch them (cross my fingers) beat UConn.. We will see what happens, all I know is my bracket is garbage but I am still loving watching the games, they are so exciting.  As far as Oregon goes I have a ticket to the CBI Championship Series (2nd game) for next Wednesday so hopefully our team is the CBI champions!  It is funny though because we are playing Creighton which is where Dana Altman use to coach.  Small world!

School starts again on Monday, I am so glad that I only have class two days a week so I can continue my job search because my senioritis is getting crazy, not so much in less productivity but more so I want to spend all my time finding a job.. Fortunately the fact that I have never been a procrastinator, keeps me ahead of others still so I am not a slacker.  Updates to come soon, a job perhaps!

Winter Term

It has been awhile since I have blogged, it's a busy life in the shoes of a college student.  But now I am just about done with Winter Term.  I have a take home final due at 5pm tomorrow, and my Game Theory final on Thursday.  This term has been interesting, my senioritis is flaring up and all I want to do is look for jobs.      Right now it is pouring rain outside, pouring might even be an understatement it is very loud and going horizontal and my lights keep blinking, please don't let me power go out or I will be very sad!  This term I have spent a lot of time working on group projects as always but I have gotten ahead so I have never been too stressed out which is nice.  Now as I quickly approach spring break it is entering spring term which is going to be all about securing a job.  I am just about done with my book to market myself as an employee and on Tuesday I am going to have someone in the business career center look over it.  Then I need to go shopping for professional business clothes.  I am excited to get those cute little suit outfits, they remind me of my business barbie doll from when I was younger, although I don't think I will go for the purple and pink plaid blazer with the purple skirt... probably black and grey.  Spring break I am also meeting with people from both the Blazers and the Sounders/Seahawks, this is more informational, but a girl can dream that they will hire me on the spot right?  I also have a job interview with a company called Insight Global.  They are an IT staffing firm.  Other places I am looking at are any marketing places in Portland and Seattle areas.  I am especially looking at Nike (duh my dream job since middle school), SportsOne (yeah the festival in Glendale drew me in), and Sound Marketing (I saw a post on craigslist and from the website looks like a cool place and they told me to contact them when it gets close to graduation).  I am excited for spring term because I only have to take two classes so I will have time to find a job so that hopefully I will have one when I graduate.  I would love to already have a job when I graduate so I don't have to worry.  Updates to come on the job front.  I think that's all for now, but hopefully I will have a post during spring break.

Arizona!!

Mark and I at the Natty
Tailgating before the Natty

On the Friday of Week 1 we drove to Seattle in the morning and then our flight left Sea-Tac at 6pm.  When we got into Phoenix we rode a shuttle to his Grandmas in Scottsdale.  Saturday and Sunday we hung out at the Bud Light Fiesta and around Scottsdale.  The Fiesta was a lot of fun, also it was put on by a Beaverton company, Sports One.  Sports One was contracted to do the work for Street Jam last summer and was taking on the duties I had done in my internship the year before.  So I volunteered with them, so in Arizona I went and talked to some of the people, they did a great job with the event.  We ate at a place called Dos Gringos both days and it was great.  On Saturday we had ice cream that was infused with alcohol that was cool and on Sunday we spent some time with our friends Brennan and Clark and Clarks dad.  Sunday was also the Oregon Pep Rally which was awesome.  There was so many duck fans that not everyone could fit in the area and people were everywhere!  Sebastian Bach, Supwitchugirl, and On the Rocks performed and we also heard from Chip Kelly and Joey Harrington.  MONDAY WAS THE BIG DAY!  We had so much fun tailgating and hanging out and it was just awesome to be there.  Of course it was disappointing to lose, but we were so happy to be in Arizona at the game.  I still think our guys deserved the win and they played better but I will always love my ducks!  Tuesday we just hung out and picked oranges and walked around his grandmas neighborhood.  Also Tuesday night we went back to Dos Gringos one last time, and then watched Little Fockers.  We were still a little depressed but it helped to not just sit around.  Wednesday was the worst because not only were we still depressed but we had to leave the nice weather to fly 3 hours then drive 4 hours and get back into the rain.  Now we are back and although you never get over a loss it was a great ride. When Marks dad picked us up at the airport he did say he has a hotel in Dallas when we play LSU at Cowboy Stadium so it sounds like we might be going to that.  Anyways we had so much fun with our 6 day vacation to Arizona, now today I had one class and now its a 4 day weekend, so at least I get to ease back into my crazy life at school.

Christmas #2

After Christmas with the Jacoby's I drove home to celebrate Christmas with my family.  It was lots of fun because Elise, Jim and Emmett were there.  It was nice to spend time with them.  I spent a lot of time with Emmett playing and reading books.  He always amazes me as how smart he is.  Mark rode the train in for New Years and we picked him up at the train station which Emmett loved since there was trains and his buddy Mark.  Mark and I hung out with my family and their friends until about 9:30 when my parents dropped us off downtown.  It was interesting to see the bar side of Corvallis.  I really enjoyed going to Block 15 which is a brewery.  Both Mark and I like to taste different beers.  It was sad to leave family and go back to school, however we both knew we were only going to be there for a week before flying to Arizona for the BCS National Championship

Christmas!

This year I spent Christmas at the Jacoby's house and then went to Corvallis to celebrate with my family on the 26th.  The Jacoby's have a tradition of getting their picture taken with Santa every year.  I teased them but did end up getting in one picture when we were there.  Everyone asked Santa for Oregon to win the National Championship for football, and Santa ended up being a huge duck fan himself so hopefully our wish comes true.  Mark and I's first wish did come true as we ended up getting tickets to the game.  We actually fly to Arizona tomorrow and will be there until next Wednesday.  This will give us a chance to check out all the festivities and really enjoy a vacation.  We do have to miss school, but it's our senior year and it is worth it.

Christmas was also very special for Mark and I because he gave me a promise ring.  My sister says this makes him my Beyonce (boyfriend + fiance) since we are kinda in between the two.  The ring is gorgeous, Mark did a great job!  Anyways I will post again with more pictures after the national championship game but just wanted to get this done before we leave ahhh tomorrow!! GO DUCKS!
